    Actually, it seems that the tendons in between my fingers want to pull the fingers together regardless of where they are pointed. So the “thought experiment” is just cashing in on the fact that our fingers do not naturally want to stay aligned with our hands, but are rather curled toward the palm. If I hold ONE finger aligned perfectly straight with the knuckles, IT will pull forward, and there’s no other finger (or a “magic” guy on TV) to “influence” it.

      I think you nailed it on the head. All illusions are common occurring phenomena that a ‘magician’ uses to manipulate the audience into believing its real.
