Twitter has fallen down and can’t get up. I’ve seen many Twitter failures in the last few years, most times the service is fixed quickly and at least a few tweets get through. Not so today, none of my desktop clients have access to the API. Tweetdeck and Hootsuite are out for the count.  Below is Twitter’s response on the issue. As this writing August 5, 2010 4:50 PM Central USA the service is still down.

We’re currently experiencing a high error rate on Twitter. Our infrastructure and operations engineers are responding.

Update:  Thu Aug  5 22:39:04 UTC 2010: Twitter is currently recovering, Tweets are are flowing again. We expect a full recovery in the next hour.
