With the announcement of Google Instant Search many in the tech world are forecasting the death of SEO as we know it. Website owners are now faced with the tough challenge of adjusting their SEO efforts to keep pace with Google’s suggestions. In the past using Google’s KeyWord suggestion tool gave bloggers and advertisers a heads up on what phrases people were searching for online. So for instance, if a shoe company knew that people were searching specifically for ‘waterproof winter boots’ they could buy that exact phrase in Google Adwords and in theory reach their target demographic. This process no longer holds true with Google Instant search, because the users is being sent results and suggestion via Google’s algorithm in real-time. The person searching now has the option to abandon their original search and follow Google’s suggestions on what is the best search term to use.
So, how do you optimize your pages for SEO in this new real time world. I suggest a combination of the Google keyword tool and the Google search box itself. Follow these 3 easy steps you’ll have the best of both worlds.
1. First do a search using the keyword tool to find your target demographic.
2. Second take the word or phrase you want to get a high ranking for and start typing it in the search box on the main Google page.
*Be sure to pay close attention and make note of what Google is now suggesting as you type.
3. Copy the new phrase that Google Instant search has suggested. You now have the key phrase that people searching for your product are being sent to. This phrase can now serve as your new product description or article headline.
