The Logitech Revue: Google TV In A Box

Google’s bid to be a dominant force in living rooms just came one step closer with the launch of Logitech’s Revue. The Revue is a powerful hardware and software combination that makes web surfing, videoconferencing and video stream a cinch all from the comfort of your couch.

Some key features of the system are.

Revue comes with an easy to set up companion box and an intuitive companion keyboard controller. Simply connect your TV, cable or satellite set-top box, and your Internet connection to the Logitech Revue, and you’ve got Google TV. As long as your TV has an HDMI port, you are ready for Google TV.

Apps:

With Revue, you get a cool selection of preinstalled apps created just for your TV, including Netflix, NBA.TV, and Pandora . And with a huge community of developers creating apps for the upcoming Android Market , there’s no telling what your TV will be able to do.

Smartphone Remote:

Revue has the brains of our most advanced Harmony remote built right in, so with a simple software download, you can control your Revue with your iPhone or Android smartphone

My favorite part of the Logitech Review is being able to swap from an app straight back to regular TV. Also not having to swap inputs and wait for the Xbox to load to watch Netflix. Also as a DISH Network employee I know that the program searches can work straight with the DISH Network receiver’s guide information. Allowing you to set recordings and so on.

I’ve been waiting for the launch of these smart TV devices for some time, let’s hope the Revue can do what WebTV failed to. Swapping between apps and live TV is a killer feature indeed.
