In order to shoot quality video a high end video camera is not mandatory. For those of you with a middle level DSLR, shooting amazing HD video can be accomplished by following a few tried a true techniques for capturing great images. Below are four tips to help you turn that DSLR into an HD video camera worthy of any indie film festival.
Tip 1. Pick a lens with image stabilizer
Image stabilization (IS) is a family of techniques used to reduce blurring associated with the motion of a camera during exposure.
Tip 2. Small aperture = easy to focus
In optics, an aperture is a hole or an opening through which light travels.
Tip 3. Wide angle = easy to focus
Using a wide angle lens allows you to not have to worry as much about focus.
Tip 4. Use distance scale on the lens
To aid in manual focusing using the distance scale on the lens to verify the depth of field for your chosen aperture.
