Any one that watches late night television knows that the pharmaceutical industry has a cornucopia of medications that will alleviate the effects of old age. You got erectile dysfunction, there’s a pill for that, osteoporosis check, arthritis ditto, diabetes, you got it. We’ve been conditioned to believe that the ravages of aging are quite natural and in turn requires an unnatural medical intervention to ensure the prolonging of health.
What if there were another view of health and longevity (one that this author prescribes to)? Is it possible to keep ourselves healthy via a preemptive approach? If we view the body as a machine that needs regular maintenance to keep running, then we can begin to see how periodic repair over time can give us better long term health.
“Gerontologist Aubrey de Grey claims the key to human longevity is periodic repair and maintenance on the molecular and cellular level, not a magic bullet that slows down the aging process. Advocating what he calls the “maintenance approach,” Dr. de Grey compares caring for the human body to preserving an antique car.”-ForaTv
