In recent years sites like Vimeo have ushered in the era of the internet filmmaker and music star. No longer do you have to dream of being discovered in Hollywood or winning American Idol to gain worldwide fame. All one needs is a video camera and an internet connection, press record and share your talent with the masses.
Once music videos made the switch from televisions to computer monitors, a new genre of small screen cinematography was born. Now anyone with a DSLR, a small budget and great vision can easily tell their stories via film.
Nikon has played a major role in this video revolution and at this years SXSW 2011 (South by Southwest) in Austin Texas, they’ve made a commitment to reach out to the thousands of music, film and tech enthusiasts in town to celebrate artistic expression. In a joint promotion with Vimeo, Nikon will be throwing a high energy party with an open bar that is free from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. as long as you RSVP and have a SXSW badge. The party kicks off Sunday night into Monday morning, head on over to FaceBook to RSVP.
