Some ten years after the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, CNN is reporting that Osama Bin Laden was killed in a mansion in Islamabad, Pakistan. Twitter immediately erupted with a deluge of tweets celebrating the demise of one of the most hated men in history.

NYT NEWS ALERT: Osama bin Laden Is Dead, White House Says

President: “No Americans were harmed. They took care to avoid civilian casualties. After a firefight, they killed Osama Bin Laden…”
RT @elysiasegal RT @ASepiol: “Where were you when you found out Osama Bin Laden was killed?” “On Twitter”
OASN: R.I.P to all of our fallen soldiers who have given their lives for this moment. All those who have lost theirs lives in 9/11

Update: In a strange turn of events it seems a Twitter user (@ReallyVirtual) living in Abbottabad, Pakistan was tweeting about military choppers circling his neighborhood at 1AM in the morning. It turns what he overheard was the US Navy Seals flying in to attack the Bin Laden Compound.
Once again Twitter proved to be the central news source for realtime accounts of a major world event.
10 hours ago, from Abbottabad RT @ReallyVirtual: Helicopter hovering above Abbottabad at 1AM (is a rare event).
