Do@ Launches iPhone App Search Engine At Techcrunch Disrupt

When using a traditional search engine, you type in a keyword and a page of results are brought back to you. Those results were put together by sites like Google who crawl all the major sites on the internet and ranks the best results based on a predefined criteria, ie sites with the most high quality inbound links. This is the way search engines have operated for the last 10 yrs.

DO@ is a new iPhone based search engine, it works by running your keyword search only within mobile apps. The idea being that a dedicated app with a large user base most likely has the relevant information you are looking for. For instance if you want to find a restaurant in your immediate vicinity that has great food, DO@ will search all location aware apps and bring back an HTML5 version of the app with the closest matching information to your search. No longer do you have to read through pages of search results to find the most pertinent information from highly specialized sources. Once an app developer and their users have gathered accurate, trust worthy information on a subject, you get to benefit from the wisdom of the masses.
