Youtube is now letting users test out a new ‘Cosmic Panda‘ skin that gives the video site a slick visual upgrade. In recent days rumors have been flying that Google is in talks to acquire Hulu. The deal would allow Google to gain access to Hulu’s vast collection of licensed video content as well as there monetization platform. Hulu is already well established as the go to site to catch up on missed episodes of your favorite TV shows.
Whereas Google already operates the largest video portal on the internet in the form of Youtube, they have struggled to monetize all the user submitted content that dominates the site. The new cosmic Panda skin could be the first look at what a Youtube Hulu merger would look like.
The new new cool grey layout is kinder on the eyes than the bright white of its predecessor and gives a nod towards their new clean design direction as seen in Google+. Aside from aesthetics the this design allows for better monetization as ads can be run right alongside the video to its right. Users will also have the ability to quickly toggle between various video aspect ratios for wide screen as well as turn off the display of comments for a better viewing experience.
