Facebooks Unveils New Design: Twitter Users React Comparing It To Myspace

The current trending topic on Twitter as of this writing is ‘Myspace’. At first glance one might be fooled into think the once popular music social network is making a comeback. Unfortunately, the tweets are actually aimed at Facebook of all things.

Facebook users have taken to Twitter to once again complain about the latest redesign of the site comparing the new clutter news stream to Myspace. Ouch!

The newly cluttered home screen has set off an uproar on Twitter.

Below you can check out the new features Facebook has rolled out a day prior to the F8 2011 conference. I suspect they rolled out these features a day early in order to get all the negative press out of the way prior to their developer conference.

Friends Lists- smart lists update themselves based on your profile info, acquaintances and offers friend recommendations.

Ticker- Allows you to see and interact with what your friends are posting in realtime. (Feels kind of like Twitter tacked on to the side of Facebook)

So what do you think, is the new Facebook design a step back in time? Does it bring back memories of Myspace, bad web design and overly complicated user interfaces?

I feel like there is so much to see and, yet I can’t see anything. I wasn’t a big fan before and these changes didn’t help!

It is becoming quite cluttered. The problem with being a mainstream social network is that you must design with the masses in mind. Not everyone can handle all the information coming at them at once.

I think it’s funny that Twitter is calling it MySpace. The first thing I thought was “Wow, Facebook is trying to be Twitter.” I’m not a fan so far, but we’ll see. It seems like they’re making it less and less social.
